BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE NATURE & FUNCTION OF THE OFFICE/AGENCY:

Real Property Taxation is embodied in Book II, Title II of the Local Government Code of 1991 which governs the appraisal and assessment of real property for purposes of taxation by provinces, cities, and municipalities, as well as the levy, collection and administration of the real property tax in the Philippines.

Functions of the Office of the Municipal Assessor:

  1. Ensure that all laws & policies governing the appraisal & assessment of real properties are correctly executed.
  2. Initiate, review and recommend changes in policies and objectives, plans and programs, techniques, procedures & practices in the valuation & assessment of real properties for taxation purposes.
  3. Establish a systematic method of real property assessments.
  4. Install & maintain real property identification & accounting system.
  5. Exercise the function of appraisal & assessment primarily for taxation purposes of all real property in the LGU concerned.
  6. Submit a monthly, quarterly & semi-annual report of all assessments as well as cancellations & modifications assessments.
